Welcome to my new blog, first off. I hope you'll enjoy what's to come. This morning I'm doing a quick review on Sleek's Face Form contouring and blush palette in fair.
I believe that Sleek is an English brand, and therefore is not
typically stocked here in Australia. I purchased this palette from their
online store. Buying internationally can often be incredibly expensive
due to shipping costs, but I'm always pleasantly surprised with Sleek.
The shipping for this palette and the foundation tester kit which I bought
along with it came to less than $3 AUS. I think that's superb! I wish
all international companies charged so little for shipping. And the palette itself only cost around $10!
So onto the package. This little palette (it's just over 4" wide) came posted in a large, padded envelope. Above is a picture of the closed palette and the box it came in. I rather like Sleek's simple packaging. All their palettes are made from sturdy matte black plastic. Despite their low price, they never look or feel cheap to me. Only problem with the material of the palettes is they show up makeup covered fingerprints terribly- so wash your hands before playing with them or be prepared to wipe down the palette after.
This is what you get inside the Face Form palette: one contour shade, one highlight, and one blush. Fair is the lightest shade in the range, but to be honest could do with being a bit lighter. The contour shade (to your far left in the picture above) is a very warm, medium brown. For my very pale skin, I prefer an lighter, ashier brown to contour as it goes with my cool undertones better. I found that this shade was far too orangey in undertone for me, but may look lovely on a darker, warmer complexion. The highlight (middle) has a beautiful warm shimmer to it but is not quite light enough to provide noticeable highlighting on my skin. The blush, oh the blush! I love it. Certainly my favourite of the three. It's a stunning rose gold shade with shimmer all the way through it. Again, it's probably a bit too dark for me, but it's such a pretty colour that I know i'll continue to wear it anyway.
Here's a flash photograph of the three swatched and blended slightly on the back of my hand. All three appear lighter due to the flash, but I wanted to capture the shimmer of the blush and highlighter and couldn't do as effectively without the flash. See how warm the contour is? And the highlight is barely noticeable apart from its shimmer. I'd prefer a lighter shade to illuminate my skin a tad more.
And here's the final result. All three applied very, very lightly and blended like crazy onto my cheeks. It's not ideal, but I find that with careful application the trio can look very pretty against my skin, despite being a little too dark. I think that Sleek's all-in-one palette system is hugely convenient for travel, but could benefit from an expansion of shade range. If Sleek released a lighter version of this palette, I think I'd definitely re-purchase as the texture and blendability of these powders is fantastic.
